Description of Nuclear Medicine Injection Protection Carts

The nuclear medicine injection protection cart (also known as a mobile injection shielding cart or L-shaped mobile injection shielding cart) is a piece of mobile radiation protection equipment specifically designed for nuclear medicine departments, PET-CT centers, and SPECT examination rooms. Featuring a design that provides full coverage across the front, sides, and lower sections, the cart effectively blocks both direct and scattered radiation from radionuclides (such as the 511 keV gamma rays from ¹⁸F or rays from ⁹⁹ᵐTc), thereby protecting the entire body and lower limbs of medical personnel from radiation exposure. The primary shielding layer is constructed from a single, integrally cast lead or tungsten alloy plate, eliminating seams associated with pieced-together sections and preventing radiation leakage. The use of recycled scrap lead or simply adhered lead sheeting is strictly prohibited to ensure consistent, long-lasting shielding performance. The unit is equipped with a large-field-of-view ZF7 optical lead glass window tilted at a 45-degree angle; this glass offers high light transmission and zero visual distortion, allowing medical staff to clearly monitor the patient's vascular condition and the injection process while protecting the lenses of their eyes from high-energy radiation. This equipment is designed to address the challenges of administering bedside radiopharmaceutical injections to bedridden patients, critically ill patients, and individuals with limited mobility. By integrating a high-attenuation shielding structure, an adjustable-height workstation, and a waste disposal system, it enables "isolated" safe injection procedures, significantly reducing the radiation dose received by medical staff during close-range operations while meeting compliance requirements for environmental protection acceptance and annual radiation safety inspections.
