During the administration of nuclear medicine, such as PET (positron emission tomography), radioactive drugs, including 18F and Tc-99m, as well as other short-lived radionuclides, need to be injected into the patient. To protect medical staff from radiation damage, syringe shields are widely used. The Tungsten Syringe Shield reduces hand exposure to syringes containing 511 keV radionuclides. The Tungsten Syringe Shield with 8mm Wall Thickness is offered with or without a high-density (5.6) flush-mounted lead glass window that provides protection and visibility. A white reflective surface on the shield interior improves viewing of the syringe's markings and fluid content. A thumbscrew holds syringes firmly in place.
