Description of Nuclear Medicine Syringe Protection

Tungsten is an excellent radiation shielding material. Compared with the same weight of lead shielding, tungsten alloy shielding is only 1/3 of the weight of lead, but the high density of tungsten alloy makes it have a comparable radiation absorption capacity to lead. The Nuclear Medicine Syringe Protection is designed to shield radiopharmaceuticals for injection and to protect doctors and patients from X-rays, gamma rays, and other radiopharmaceuticals. The Nuclear Medicine Syringe Protection is made of high-density tungsten alloy material, with good processing performance, high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient, high temperature resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, impact resistance, durable, and environmentally protective. The Nuclear Medicine Syringe Protection is often used in the PET department, SPET department, MR Department, and nuclear medicine laboratory.

Features of Nuclear Medicine Syringe Protection

• Highly Effective Shielding: The main body is made of 7–8.6 mm tungsten alloy, attenuating 511 keV gamma rays (such as F-FDG) by approximately 88%, significantly reducing hand dose.

• Clear Visibility: An optional high-density lead glass window with a white reflective interior allows for clear visibility of the scale and solution.

• One-Handed Operation: Big-Screw, Clip-Lock, or Unilock quick-lock mechanisms allow for easy installation and removal by either hand.

• Easy Cleaning: Anodized aluminum or stainless steel surfaces are alcohol-cleanable or autoclavable, and are compatible with standard 1–10 mL disposable syringes.

Applications of Nuclear Medicine Syringe Protection

• Nuclear Medicine: Protecting healthcare workers during the packaging, transport, and bedside administration of radiopharmaceuticals (PET and SPECT isotopes).

• Radiopharmacy: Real-time shielding for technicians drawing unit doses into syringes in hot cells.

• Research: Safe handling and transport of small volumes of radiotracers.
