Description of PET Unit Dose Pig

In the nuclear medicine field, during the preparation and injection of radioactive drugs (such as Tc-99m and I-131), operators are often exposed to radiation environments, such as gamma rays, for extended periods. Therefore, radiation protection is a core requirement. For unit dose syringes (typically with a capacity of 1–5 mL), the PET Unit Dose Pig can accurately cover the radioactive drug area of the syringe, effectively shielding the high-risk radiation sources. This significantly reduces the cumulative radiation dose received by the operator's hands, torso, and other body parts, thereby protecting medical staff and the surrounding environment from radiation damage

Features of PET Unit Dose Pig

• High-density tungsten alloy (≥17 g/cm³) offers superior gamma-ray shielding compared to lead, and is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.

• Integrated precision machining and a thin-wall design ensure protection while minimizing weight.

• Customizable internal cavity for standard syringes or single-dose vials, with snap-on or threaded closure for one-handed operation.

• Anodized or spray-coated surfaces offer corrosion resistance and easy decontamination. High-temperature or chemical sterilization is possible, allowing for repeated use.

• Non-magnetic and wear-resistant, suitable for use in high magnetic fields and frequent transport.

Applications of PET Unit Dose Pig

• Hospital Nuclear Medicine Departments: Packaging, transport, and temporary storage of radiopharmaceuticals before injection.

• PET-CT and PET-MR Centers: Providing immediate shielding for single doses of 18F-FDG and other drugs.

• Radiopharmacy and Third-Party Nuclear Medicine Distribution Centers: Transport and storage of unit-dose vials.

• Research and Animal Experimentation: Shielding trace amounts of radioactive tracers used in small animal or cell experiments.
