Description of Radiation Shielding Lead Gloves

Lead gloves for radiation shielding are used to minimize the risk of exposure to scatter beam radiation during fluoroscopy, the cardiac catheterization laboratory, and the electrophysiology laboratory. For every image, the X-ray beam penetrates the body and hits some internal structures. Though the physicians’ and assistants’ risk from scatter beam radiation is considerably minimized with the use of radiation gloves, many images are needed to complete the procedures successfully.

Our radiation shielding lead gloves are engineered to allow for a reasonable degree of hand and finger mobility during the gloves. We ask you to wear lead gloves while performing the procedures to avoid severe exposure and not underestimate the importance of protection.

Features of Radiation Shielding Lead Gloves

1. Maximized Protection from Radiation: The inner core material of radiation-protective lead gloves is a high lead-equivalent alloy or composite material (lead equivalent typically 0.25-0.5 mmPb). It is possible to block more than 90% of scattered radiation due to the outstanding ability of lead atoms to weaken X/γ rays.

2. Lightweight and Flexible: The glove thickness is reduced to 0.3-0.5 mm due to the use of ultra-thin lead rubber or nano-lead composite technology. Compared to conventional lead gloves, this results in a weight reduction of 30-50%.

3. Ease of Care and Maintenance: The outer layer of the gloves is made of tear-resistant polyurethane and waterproof nylon, allowing high frequency of disinfection (alcohol wiping, low-temperature plasma sterilization) and increasing the abrasion tear resistance by 50%.
