On September 10, 2025, a batch of specialised protective lead barrels from China's Dorayshield company was officially shipped to New Zealand. These containers, specifically for medical radiation protection, marked the first entry of Chinese-made nuclear safety protection equipment into the New Zealand market, demonstrating my country's technological strength and international recognition in the field of radiation protection.
This shipment includes five lead waste drums, each weighing 160 kg. They are cast in a single cast process using 99.994% high-purity electrolytic lead, lined with 304L stainless steel, and treated with nano-cathodic electrophoresis. They withstand salt spray testing for ≥1000 hours, ensuring they can withstand the high humidity and salinity conditions of New Zealand's North Island coast. The drum lids utilise Dorayshield's patented "double-step seal" structure, achieving a leakage rate of less than 1×10⁻⁷ Pa·m³/s at 0.2 MPa and have passed the IAEA 2018 SSRL test.
This collaboration not only demonstrates the technological prowess of Chinese manufacturing in high-end protective equipment but also sets a new precedent for cooperation between China and Singapore in the field of nuclear safety. Dorayshield pledges to continue its commitment to innovative research and development of radiation protection technologies, providing global customers with safer and more reliable radiation protection solutions and contributing to the building of a global health and well-being community.
